In 2003, as reported to Abuse Excuse, based on about 2.9 million reports of child abuse and neglect, 57.7% of the same were determined to lack substantial evidence to prosecute those who were falsely accused of child abuse.. In 2004, more than one-half of investigations or assessments led to a finding that those falsely accused of child abuse were indeed false. These are official government statistics as reported by the states. Some forms of child abuse decreased again from 2004 to 2005, adding to over a decade's worth of declines, according to data released April 2, 2007 from the US Department of Health and Human Services. Rates of substantiated sexual abuse dropped by 2% in 2005 compared to the previous year, capping a 51% total decline since 1991. Rates of physical abuse declined by 5% from 2004 to 2005, making for a total 46% reduction since a peak 1992. Greater than 60% of all child abuse investigations dispositions for the year 2005 were unsubstantiated.
Also, data just released by NCANDS for 2006 and a 15 year study published by expert Dr. David Finkelho, showed that the incidence of child sexual abuse has abated by 53% and physical child abuse has decreased by 48% .
Being falsely accused of child abuse or sexual abuse of child abuse requires immediate attention. If you've been accused of a sex crime unjustly, you must fight back with a vengeance to survive. The Abuse Excuses' author, Tong, maintains some tips, referrals and resources which are a great place to start if you have been falsely accused of child abuse. Whether you've been accused of sexual child abuse, physical child abuse, domestic violence, or sexual harassment, you should consider the Tong's Two Prong test; you must prove your innocence, which equates to psychological, and/or psychosexual testing; and you must impeach the credibility of your false accusers.
If you feel you have been falsely accused of child abuse, you will need to do everything in your power to maintain your innocence. Abuse Excuse knows it is illegal for anyone to file a false report of child abuse, but unfortunately, it happens everyday.
Even though 60% percent of reported abuse cases are false, this offense has the highest conviction rate of all felony crimes. The law is written to protect the children first, so even though you may be falsely accused of child abuse and completely innocent, you could face long, expensive legal battles or even worse, you may possibly lose your children forever.
